Alaska Fishing Information

 

The Alaskan Department of fish and game.By far, the best source for up to the minute information and regulations for the state. The site should be bookmarked by every serious Alaskan outdoorsman.

 

The Alaskan Outdoor Journal has one of the most active reader forums around. Check them out for fisherman reports and live salmon escapement charts.

 

Fish Species Information

 

International Pacific Halibut Commission. The IPHC covers everything from cutting edge halibut research and conservation to recipe suggestions. I am starting to draft up the Halibut fishing section for Alaskanoutfitting and this is one of the first resources I have turned to.

Alaska News

 

The Alaska Daily News. Check it out on-line. It is agreat way to keep in touch with Alaska while you are between trips. Also check out their outdoors section for timely articles.

 

The Fairbanks Daily News – Miner. Another great site for keeping up to date with what is going on in the Great State.

 

The Homer Tribune . The Homer paper. Not a overwhelming web presence, but it does give some information for a great little town.

 

The Kodiak Daily Mirror. A nicely designed site with local news from Kodiak. If nothing else, it is interesting to read about the bear sightings in and around town.

 

The Juneau Empire . News from the Southeast of Alaska, including government coverage. Great resource for keeping up with what’s going on.

 

The Anchorage Press. The most read Anchorage newspaper. They don’t have as much information on-line as and.com but their archive has some great stuff.

 

The Nome Nugget . Alaska's oldest newspaper and a fascinating look into the news of the western Alaskan Eskimo Communities. Well worth checking out from time to time.

Alaska TV and Radio

 

KTUU Channel 2 Anchorage. The Anchorage NBC affiliate. A good Source for Anchorage news and weather.

 

KSKA Public Radio Alaska Public Radio - FM 91.1. Many of the stories can be heard via Audio tracks.

 

KIMO Anchorage ABC Affiliate. News from the Anchorage area.

Alaska Fishing Lodges

 

The Unalakleet River Lodge. Definitely away from the crowds of Anchorage, the Unalakleet lodge puts you right on top of one of the best King runs in the state. There is a price to pay though in flights and lodging, but it is definitely an experience. Kings, Silvers, Chums, Dollies, Char and Grayling

Angler's Paradise/ Kulik Lodge. A lodge and guide service located right in Katmai National Park. In fact it is the only concession in the park which puts it right in the heart of some of the best Rainbow Trout fishing in the world.

 

Fishing Unlimited Lodges. A beuatiful lodge on a secluded Lake Clark Bay. There are daily fly outs with guides to all the Illiamna area trophy trout areas. A perfect Alaskan fishing experience.

 

Alaska Chinook Lodge. Cabins located directly on the Kenai River in the town of Kenai. The location gives you opportunities for all any kind of fishing you can dream up.
