Juneau 1914There are more great images of Juneau in this collection than nearly any other location. And these pictures do a great job of capturing the capital in its early days. As well the last image on this page captures one of the mines that lead to the founding of Juneau and set it’s course as the seat of power for the city (at least for now.) This first image is a great view of the 1915 Juneau snuggled beneath the mountains

Juneau 1913This is a great view of Juneau from the water. A great memory for any historians as a memory of a Southeast Alaskan Cruise. Although you would have been lucky to see such clear skies on you visit.

Juneau Sheep Creek 1913This final Juneau image is a beautiful shot of the mines at Sheep Creek. Juneau’s birth as a city is completely intertwined with the mines that were founded here and the Treadwell mines across the Gastineau Channel on Douglas Island. This image would be a constant reminder of the history of the town, and for that matter, the state.
