All of the images are from the turn of the Twentieth Century when the lure of gold brought thousands of people here to the shores of the Arctic Ocean. Nome City 1899

This third image of Nome is a great shot of Nomes main street. This is the infamous boom town that sprang up when gold was found on the beaches here. If you have read Jack London or anything about the Nome gold rush, this image is a perfect illustration of the ragtag community that rose from the ground here.
