Not a Pristine Fishing Experience

Here is another scene of the people fishing the Eklutna Tailrace. Ease of access from Anchorage and the Mat-Su combined with potentially great fishing has already led to sizable crowds that will only increase as the King run matures. Already the vegetation along the tailrace channel has been trampled.

It will be interesting to see what the future of the Tailrace will be. For now it looks like it will become the equivalent of the Homer Spit fishing hole for the Anchorage area. The nature of the tailrace is not a wilderness experience, but it is a place you can swing by and try to fill a cooler. Or slowly empty one over a day of fishing.
