A Small Crowd Lining the Banks of the Russian River

For those who have fished the Russian River at the height of a run, you recognize this as a pretty sparse crowd. For those who haven't experienced combat fishing in Alaska, this is nothing. At the height of a run, fishermen will be ten to twenty feet apart for a couple of miles along the Kenai and a mile up the Russian. Even if you aren't fishing, it is amazing to see the number of fish that are pulled out of this stretch when the Reds are in.

If you are new to the river or reds in general, take some time to watch the other fishermen to get into the rhythm of combat fishing. Also watch for the technique *****Russian Jerk?? ***.
