Silver Salmon and King Salmon below the Ship Creek Dam Anchorage Alaska

Salmon Building up below the Ship Creek Dam

Here is a close-up view of the King and Silver Salmon that pile up below the dam on Ship Creek. You can get some great looks at them from the walkway on top of the dam. In fact, if you are wondering what the other fishermen are using, or if you want one more look at that lucky lure you lost to a thirty-five pound King, this is the place to look. There is literally a tackle box full of gear embedded into the lips, sides and tails of the salmon that survived the short run downstream.

The amount of damage the fish take in such a short run of fishable water is amazing.
