Thunderbird Creek Fishing Dangers

Besides a general lack of fish, there are two dangers that make this an undesirable place to fish, private property and cliffs that make many areas off limits to fishing.

Trespassing

Much of the land lining Thunderbird Creek is privately owned. Please respect private property and only fish areas that are clearly within the park. Uphill from the trail is completely owned privately, so stick to the trail if you are hiking in to fish.

Bears

Thunderbird Creek is located near a residential area so there is always the chance of running into bears that are habituated to people. There is quite a bit of traffic on the trail so most likely if there is a bear in the area it will be reported, but do take the typical cautions. I do not know of any historic bear attacks in the area.

Cliffs

Thunderbird Creek passes through a very steep walled canyon. Keep on the trail and respect any signs warning of cliffs, keep an eye on any children that hik in with you.

Theft

I don’t know of any specific thefts that have occurred at the Thunderbird Creek trail head but unfortunately trailhead theft has become a fact of life. Be careful to not leave valuables in your cars.
