Alaska is truly one of the greatest hiking destinations
in the world, few other areas can compare for wilderness opportunity.
But you do n
ot
have to be part of the backpacking elite to enjoy getting out in the
state. In fact, we strongly encourage you get you feet onto the ground.
Too many people see places like Denali National Park or the Kenai
Peninsula from the tour bus or car. It is so easy to get off the bus
for a couple of hours and stroll around the tundra or find a quick
trail to get you away from the tourists. The experience away from
gift shops and tour guides completely changes your total Alaskan experience.
We hope to expand this section greatly in the future. We have drafted
out trail guide samples and possible content, but the reality is that
we just don’t have the time to do Alaskan hiking justice. Then
we received the second edition of Falcon Guides
Hiking Alaska, and we have to admit defeat. Every great idea
we had and more can be found in this book. So for now, we highly recommend
getting a copy of that book. At least until we can out do it.
